1 vote Can’t Vote Unvote Vote up 1 voteI'd be happy with Deborah Madison, Claudia Roden, Nigella Lawson, Jamie Oliver, Ina Garten, or Dreena Burton. These are some of the cookbooks I already have at home that I would like to cook from.- I love Nigella also! The problem with her writing so well though, is that I end up reading her cookbooks like novels and not cooking from them. I would LOVE to do one of her books, I would vote for How to Eat, for a cookbook selection. I love marmalade, maybe I'll pull my book out and actually cook from it.

Pasquelli commented on “substitutions for wheat flour in "Super Natural every day " cookbook or other recipes requiring baking”Sat 11 Jun 2011 03:47:13 GMTI used almond flour in the Little Quinoa Patties. I did make these with whole wheat bread crumbs the first time, so I knew how they should taste, and they were great both ways. I learned about almond flour on Elana's Pantry.
For baking recipes, I would go on one of the many gluten-free sites, like Simply Sugar and Gluten-Free or No Gluten No Problem for example, and make a flour blend yourself. No likes Can’t Like Unlike Like No likes- A feature I would love to see would be what country the member is from after their name. I would love to know when they are replying to "pudding" if they mean pudding as in dessert (UK) or pudding as in a creamy milk and egg dessert (US). I have also been interested in a book someone comments on, to find our that is not in print here. It might be fun to see the selection of people we have from around the world participating on this site.No likes Can’t Like Unlike Like No likes

- Little Quinoa PattiesI plan on making Little Quinoa Patties, and under the title it says "goat cheese, garlic, herbs" and I don't see goat cheese in the ingredients list. Do I use goat cheese instead of the Parmesan listed, or is there an extra goat cheese measurement I should be adding?
Also, the Muesli recipes lists oat germ, is that the same as oat bran? I am assuming not, but I have never seen oat germ before. No likes Can’t Like Unlike Like No likes

3 votes Can’t Vote Unvote Vote up 3 votesI have been thinking about all of the cookbooks I own, and which of these cookbooks would I want to spend some time cooking from. This book has so many recipes I would like to try, and even though it is middle eastern food, there are many recipes that don't have ingredients that would be hard to find, and I live in a small town. There are plenty of recipes that are vegetarian that sound like they would be good to non-vegetarians. Yogurt is used in several recipes, as are beans, lentils, grains, and lots of veg. There are recipes that use lemon juice, which just makes me think about the sad dying dwarf lemon tree that I bought from the farmer's market last year. Maybe Tender will teach me something about gardening.
I am trying to decide which recipe to try first from Tender, and I bought the UK version in 2010 and it is so beautiful I wasn't considering getting the US version. But as I am finally reading through to choose some recipes to actually cook, as opposed to just read, the difference in measurements and terms are throwing me more than I thought they would! What's a gammon, anyways?
- Oh, I read far enough down to answer my own question! I am doing a happy dance that I have Tender and Rick Bayless's Mexican Kitchen, so I'll get to come out and play...No likes Can’t Like Unlike Like No likes
1 vote Can’t Vote Unvote Vote up 1 vote- I am so happy to see this book being reviewed! I have it in my wishlist on Amazon, but you can not search in the book and there is only one review (I live in a small town without a big bookstore). I will enjoy seeing what you cook from it and how you like it. Are you happy to have it in your library? No likes Can’t Like Unlike Like No likes
- I just checked Amazon, and they have the title "The Cafe Paradiso Cookbook" as the only new book offered. If I purchased this, would I be buying the correct book? I love the idea of cooking veggie dishes outdoors. Are these recipes particularly time consuming? No likes Can’t Like Unlike Like No likes
- Cheddar Cornmeal SconesHeidi,
Is there much white flour used in this book? I have plenty of white flour recipes, if I am to buy a new book, I would like it to use healthy ingredients. I wish there was an option to look inside of the book on Amazon.
I am excited about the next book being Tender. I read it like a novel, now maybe I'll actually cook out of it!No likes Can’t Like Unlike Like No likes - Vanilla Bean LoavesThe desciption of the recipe starts out, "There are three forms of vanilla in the batter and two vanilla beans in the syrup...". I made this recipe after reading about it in Too Many Cooks: Kitchen Adventures with 1 Mom, 4 Kids, and 102 Recipes, and bought Cooking with Mr. Latte just for the one recipe. It was worth buying the book just for this recipe! It looks like a very simple recipe to serve to guests, you make them in loaf pans, but they are so full of vanilla flavor, everyone will love them. They store beautifully also, and taste just as good the next day.No likes Can’t Like Unlike Like No likes
- Red Lentil Soup with LimeI made this soup based on the reviews here and after making it for dinner last night and loving it, will happily eat it for lunch for the next two days. My husband and four children, however, hated it. My children are not picky eateres. So here's my advice; if you love exotic food, you will love this recipe. If you like simple food, you will hate it. I think it is just one of "those" recipes. No likes Can’t Like Unlike Like No likes
