This fantastic little book is by Patricia Helding, the owner of the Fat Witch Bakery in New York - and I would just love to go there! In the meantime I will content myself with baking the gorgeous bars and treats from these pages. Full of chocolate, sugar and butter - it is no wonder this shop is so popular!! |

Yet another Eastern Mediterranean flavoured cookbook to add to my collection! This one is simply written, with easy to follow recipes accompanied by gorgeous full colour photo's. Typical of this style of cuisine, the dishes are full of fresh flavours and delicious spices - I love it! |

I just received this book yesterday in the post and spent last night reverently going through it page by page. While I'm fond enough of eating dessert, I don't really have a large repertoire of desserts that I make myself - that will now change! David Lebovitz seriously knows his stuff and this book is crammed with gorgeous sweet dishes to tempt everybody. It is set out with an informative section on ingredients and equipment in the beginning, followed by the recipes divided into types of dessert - cakes, pies, cookies, frozen deserts etc - making it very simple to find the sort of thing that you might like to make, finishing with a section on sauces. The frozen section particularly appeals to me as I have recently bought and ice cream churn and these recipes all look so very fresh and some of them even look healthy!! As expected, there are a lot of sinful looking chocolate based recipes and they are the ones I will probably gravitate towards. And his cookies are brilliant and they are in the book!! |

I came to hear of this book by downloading the podcasts of Lynne Rossetto Kasper's entertaining and informative Public Radio Broadcasters show. It is full of great recipes that are quick to put together and taste fresh and satisfying. There are cooking tips and hints about variations both in cooking or ingredients and loads of information about buying produce and/or cooking implements. It would be a good book to give as a gift to a new cook, but is just as useful for the more experienced cook who may be looking for new inspiration. |

I was thrilled to bits to finally get my hands on this beautiful book. I live in Australia, so I haven't been to the famous restaurant/cafe "Ottolenghi", but I am deeply in love with their food since I bought the cookbook of the same name. When I heard there was another one out by Yottam Ottolenghi I knew I had to have it. I am not disappointed. This is a gorgeous book. The gold embossed, white cover is slightly padded so it is a pleasure to pick up and hold, the photos of the food are as beautifully styled and lit as I would expect and the recipes are really the icing on the cake! It is divided into chapters by the general theme of ingredients which are all vegetables, grains and pulses. Most of the dishes could just as easily be a main or a starter and all look wonderfully tempting. I think this will become my standby for vegetables for the foreseeable future. |

This is a new edition of Claudia's classic book from 1968. With some recipes revisited and others needing no change it is still one of the definitive works on Middle Eastern food and holds a valued place in my collection! Love it!! |

This bakery is a very popular little place in Sydney and was a local secret. Now the co-owners have published most of their secrets in this book. It covers all aspects of baking from breads, through to pastries, cakes and tarts with gorgeous photos of both the shop and their wares. The recipes are well laid out and are set out so that even a novice will feel like giving a few of them a go - and they won't be sorry they did! A wonderful book for anyone who loves baking. |

This is the first of the "Moro" cookbooks and is what Sam & Sam Clark call a "distillation of their favourite recipes" from their restaurant, Moro, in London. The recipes are, for the most part, simple with a focus on freshness and the informed use of specific spices and flavours used in both Spanish and Mediterranean Muslim cooking, aimed a making the dishes culturally correct. The dishes range from simple breads and tapas, to divine tarts and desserts. There are recipes for sauces, marinades, salads, vegetable dishes and explanations of terms and ingredients that may be unfamiliar to some. It also includes, at the back, a list of Mediterranean and Middle Eastern suppliers in London. It is a great book to just sit and flick through - I always manage to find something that I immediately want to rush off and make! |

I love this book! I originally found the recipe on the net and fell in love with that, but once I got the book I was thrilled to discover just how versatile the base recipe is and what can be done with it. There is not much that can't be made, bread-wise, and if baking is your thing, then this book is for you. Just watch out for your hips!! |
