2 likes Can’t Like Unlike Like 2 likesI've only tried one recipe so far from this book, so I won't be able to comment on the quality of the recipes...however I only realized when I sat down to write this review that in fact this book is NOT by Donna Hay, which is what I thought since I saw it at the bookshop.
So in terms of style, both of layout and imagery, this book is very donna hay-esque in my opinion. Possibly the 'marie claire' connection? I don't know. This book has beautiful saturated colour photographs of each dish set in a kind of summer cottage or...
- Apple and Rhubarb Crumblethis yummy crumble recipe differs slightly from the usual oaty toppings i've tried in the past, using coconut instead! No likes Can’t Like Unlike Like No likes

3 likes Can’t Like Unlike Like 3 likesI became a fan of Donna Hay after a friend gave me a copy of 'food fast'. (I'll review that one later...)
The recipes are organised by popular flavours, e.g. vanilla, chocolate etc...The book is laid out similarly to other Donna Hay cookbooks, with beautiful illustrations for each recipe and short, simple instructions. Undoubtably one's results would be equally beautiful in presentation and taste...However I haven't used a single recipe from this book in the past four years I've owned it! The same goes for my copy of Donna Hay's 'comfort'. I flip through them from time to time, for...

I don't have this book with me at the moment to refer to, as it lives in safekeeping at my parents house across the pond, but I would wholeheartedly recommend this volume to anyone, whether starting out in the kitchen, or a well-seasoned cook. It was one of my first cookbooks, and for a while my only cookbook and therefore perpetual cooking reference point.
This book was my transition from university student fast food fare, to...

3 likes Can’t Like Unlike Like 3 likesAs previous reviewers have noted, the style and presentation of this book make it a pleasure to read! I don't know whether there were different editions printed, but my copy has exquisite grainy paper that really gives the photographs extra depth and sumptuousness.
I also happened to purchase the book at a reduced price...and thought myself lucky indeed, until I got home and began to peruse the book in detail and pages 126 through 132 fell out on my lap. But, I would say that isn't really a complaint against the book itself, I've just learned that it's probably a good...

12 likes Can’t Like Unlike Like 12 likesI received this book as a gift from my work colleagues, and it goes to show how well they know me. I've enjoyed every book and article of Nigel Slater's that I have read because of his relaxed writing style, however what I like about his recipes is that they are usually not fussy.
I often find that required ingredients for his recipes are already in the cupboard or easy enough to source at the local shop without costing an arm and a leg. Preparation methods are straight-forward, easy to understand, and easy to remember so that I don't find myself...
