One of the most exciting restaurants to open in a long time. Dishes change often. Every one is worth ordering. Chef-owners Stuart Brioza and Nicole Krasinski are creating some of the most imaginative, creative and delicious food anywhere. The ceramic serving dishes are gorgeous too, made by Bioza. Dinner served nightly; brunch Sundays.

mcs3000 commented on an answer to “A restaurant that is especially San Francisco for my parents to take us out to”Wed 07 Dec 2011 06:32:57 GMTUnless DC has changed, it's hard to find good Italian there. If your parents don't want Italian, how about Foreign Cinema? Take them to Bi-Rite or Humphry Slocombe afterwards (never found great ice cream there either). Also like the Thanh Long suggestion above (mmm, crab + garlic noodles). No likes Can’t Like Unlike Like No likes- Asked a SJ friend. Steven Gdula makes gobs inspired by a favorite treat he had growing up in Pennsylvania. Gobs are sandwich cakes filled with cream filling. They're sensational.
For holidays, Steven makes theme-filled gobs, such as the 12 Gobs of Christmas: http://gobbagobbahey.com/2009/12/03/the-twelve-gobs-of-christmas-a-boxed-set
Steven has a new cookbook called "Gobba Gobba Hey" with jacket pic by Jun Belen. It's wonderful.

- Pastrami sandwichPastrami is house smoked. Each sandwich is carved carefully by hand, placed on house-baked Jewish rye painted with brown mustard, and accompanied by barrel-brined sour garlic-dill pickles. No likes Can’t Like Unlike Like No likes
